This is an
album cover for LMFAO, the cover contains the two male artists and the
cropped middle of a female model. The male figures are leaning against
the female with the same expression. Their expression, the inclusion of
large glasses and their general appearance is humorous and all adds to
the fun feel of the album.
The model is a
mid-shot of just her middle which presents a sexual image. The two male
artists are in close-up of only their heads demonstrating their
importance as the album creators. They are seen to be drawn towards the
female model, and almost to be drooling over her. The position of the
shot is head on and the artists are in a posed shot as they are aware of
the picture being taken. It also creates a relationship between the
audience and the artists. The female model has a stereotypically thin
figure which is all too common a symbol in the media. The fact that she
is anonymous again reinforces her inclusion as merely a sexual image and
not a real person.
Colour is
obviously important to this album cover, bright colours are used such as
yellow, pink and purple. All these colours represent a party feel to
the album, which is reflected in the title 'Sorry for Party Rocking'.
Also the colours draw attention to the female, rather than the male
artists, which would appeal to a young male audience.
Two different
fonts are used in the layout of the typography, this shows the
difference between the band name and the title of the album. The band
name is in bold yellow capital letters which is easy to read and stands
out. There is a pink print flowing out of the writing giving it
a psychedelic quality. The album name is in a more stylised font, which
resembles a tattoo. This gives the album an 'edgy' feel and more of a
rock n roll status. This is further underlined by the model's body
piercing.
The lighting
emphasises the main characters on the album cover by highlighting them
and keeping the background dark. This provides the main images with an
energy that will attract the audience to listen to the album.
The music of
this album is of a similar genre to the song we have chosen (Dance Pop).
Therefore it is interesting to see how it is represented through the
album cover, such as the colourful vibe, the main image, the fonts and
how the artists are portrayed.
